Details
You have three ways into Seoul from Incheon International Airport: the AREX train, an airport limousine bus or a taxi. The best one depends on where your hotel is, how much luggage you carry and what time you land. This guide compares them with October 2026 fares and shows where to board each one.
Before you start
- Allow time for arrival. Incheon Airport asks travelers to allow 1 to 2 hours for immigration after landing before booking onward transport.
- Know your terminal. Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2) are separate buildings. Your ticket or airline shows which one you use.
- Know your hotel's nearest station or bus stop. The AREX express stops only at Seoul Station. Limousine buses stop at hotels and stations on fixed routes.
- Have a payment method. AREX express tickets take foreign cards. The all-stop train and most city transport take T-money; buy one at a convenience store in the airport (How to use a T-money card). Some limousine buses take cash or T-money only on board.
The options side by side (as of October 2026)
| Option | Adult fare | Time | Hours from the airport | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AREX express | ₩13,000 | 43 min (T1) / 51 min (T2) to Seoul Station | T1 05:24–22:48; T2 05:16–22:40 | Hotels near Seoul Station, Lines 1 and 4, KTX |
| AREX all-stop | ₩4,750 (T1) / ₩5,350 (T2) by card | 59 / 66 min to Seoul Station | to Seoul Station: T1 05:14–23:38; T2 05:08–23:32 | Hongdae, Gongdeok, Gimpo; lowest fare |
| Airport limousine bus | about ₩16,000–₩18,000 | depends on route and traffic; the late-night timetable shows 60–90 min from T1 to central stops | daytime routes, then late-night N buses | Hotels next to a bus stop; heavy luggage |
| Taxi (metered) | ₩4,800 base, then distance and time, plus tolls | depends on traffic | 24 hours | Groups, late nights, door to door |
| International Taxi (flat fare) | ₩70,000–₩95,000 by Seoul zone (sedan) | depends on traffic | by booking | Foreign-language service, fixed price |
Step by step
Step 1 — Leave arrivals and find your transport
You come out into the 입국장ipgukjangArrivals hall. Doors to the outside are numbered: 출입구churipguDoor 1 to 14 at T1 and 1 to 10 at T2. Train and most bus stops are in different places at each terminal:
| Terminal 1 | Terminal 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| AREX | 교통센터gyotong senteoTransportation Center, B1 | Transportation Center, B1 |
| Seoul-bound buses | 1F, outside doors 3 to 7 | B1 Transportation Center, bus stops 11 to 35 |
| Bus tickets | 매표소maepyosoTicket booth inside near doors 4 and 9, outside near doors 4, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 13 | Ticket kiosks on the east and west sides of the Transportation Center, staffed booth in the middle of the bus waiting area |
| Taxis | 1F; standard Seoul taxis at 5C, 6C and 6D; deluxe and jumbo at 7C and 8C; International Taxi at 4C | 1F; follow the taxi signs |
Buy a T-money card at a convenience store in arrivals if you plan to take the all-stop train or a city bus later.
Step 2 — If you take AREX
Go down to B1 and follow the 공항철도gonghang cheoldoAirport Railroad signs. The 직통열차jiktong yeolchaExpress train needs a ticket from the machine or counter before the gate. The 일반열차ilban yeolchaAll-stop train takes T-money. Full steps, ticket machine labels and last trains: AREX airport railroad.
Step 3 — If you take an airport limousine bus
- Find your route and stop on the airport bus search or the operator's site before you queue.
- Buy a ticket at the booth or kiosk. One operator, Airport Limousine, says passengers with tickets board first. At T1, its routes 6001, 6002 and 6015 board in queue order and take cash, T-money or a ticket. At T2, buy a ticket for every route.
- Press the bell when your stop comes. Airport Limousine says staff check your ticket only to confirm the route, so they will not know where you want to get off.
Its fares in October 2026: ₩17,000 for an adult between Seoul and Incheon Airport, ₩16,000 on routes via Gimpo Airport, ₩12,000 for children. Credit cards are not accepted on board, and the Climate Card cannot be used. Each passenger can bring 2 bags under 28 inches and 20 kg; extra bags cost ₩8,000 each. Fares on other operators' routes differ; the late-night routes in the table below cost ₩17,000 or ₩18,000.
Step 4 — If you take a taxi
Use the official taxi stands only. Incheon Airport warns that call vans posing as taxis solicit passengers illegally and overcharge.
- Standard taxi: Seoul taxis start at ₩4,800 and run on the meter, plus highway tolls. Night surcharge: 20% from 22:00 to 23:00, 40% from 23:00 to 02:00, 20% from 02:00 to 04:00. There is no city-boundary surcharge from the airport to Seoul.
- Deluxe and jumbo (9-seat) taxis: start at ₩7,000, with a 20% night surcharge from 22:00 to 04:00.
- International Taxi: a service for foreign visitors with foreign-language drivers. Seoul city lists flat fares from the airport by zone: ₩70,000 (Zone A, e.g. Gangseo), ₩75,000 (B, e.g. Mapo), ₩85,000 (C, e.g. Jongno, Jung, Yongsan), ₩90,000 (D, e.g. Gangnam, Seocho), ₩95,000 (E, e.g. Songpa). SUVs and vans cost ₩100,000–₩140,000. Book on 1644-2255.
We found no official estimate of a typical metered fare from the airport; it depends on traffic, distance and tolls.
Step 5 — If you land late at night
The last AREX all-stop trains leave T1 at 23:38 and T2 at 23:32 for Seoul Station. Some later trains run only to Digital Media City.
After that, take a late-night bus or a taxi. The Seoul late-night routes from T1 in October 2026:
| Route | Goes to | Adult / child | T1 departures |
|---|---|---|---|
| N6000 | Gangnam Express Bus Terminal, via Songjeong and Yeomchang stations | ₩17,000 / ₩10,000 | 00:10 to 04:20 |
| N6002 | Cheongnyangni, via Hongdae and Heunginjimun (Dongdaemun) | ₩17,000 / ₩10,000 | 00:00 to 04:40 |
| N6701 | Dongdaemun Design Plaza, via Mapo Station, Seoul Station and Euljiro | ₩18,000 / ₩12,000 | 23:50 to 04:40 |
| N6703 | Gwangnaru Station, via Seorae Village, COEX and Jamsil | ₩18,000 / ₩12,000 | from 23:40 |
Each route has only a few departures a night. The buses start at T2 and reach T1 about 20 minutes later. Buy tickets at the booths or kiosks; N6701 and N6703 tickets are also sold in the Tmoney GO app. Check the airport's late-night bus page for exact times on your date.
Common problems
You went to the wrong terminal. A shuttle bus runs between T1 and T2 about every 10 minutes from 05:00 to 23:00, from T1 3F (door 8) and T2 3F (between doors 4 and 5). It takes about 15 minutes from T1 to T2 and 18 minutes back. AREX also links the terminals in about 6 minutes for ₩1,050.
The limousine bus is full. Airport Limousine has no seat reservations on its routes into the airport and boards in order; from the airport, ticket holders go first. Wait for the next bus.
Someone offers you a ride in the arrivals hall. Decline. Use the official taxi stands outside.
Your Climate Card is refused. It does not cover airport buses, and on AREX you cannot board with it at the airport. See Transit cards compared.
You are carrying a lot of luggage. AREX allows 2 items per person (none over 32 kg or 158 cm in total size). Limousine buses allow 2 bags under 28 inches and 20 kg. Seoul Metro's T-luggage service delivers bags between the airport and some subway stations on the same day; its counters at the airport are opposite check-in counters B (T1) and H (T2) on 3F.
