April is when Korea's spring flowers peak. Cherry blossoms reach Seoul, azaleas and canola fields follow, and days are mild enough for walking all day. It is also busy. This guide is written on 20 October 2026 for April 2027. Organizers had not announced 2027 festival dates yet, so it shows the pattern from 2026.

  • Layers. Afternoons in Seoul reach about 18°C on average.
  • Comfortable shoes. Blossom spots involve long walks on crowded paths.
  • A compact umbrella. Spring showers are common.
  • A mask for dust days. Seoul averages 3.1 yellow dust days in April (황사hwangsaYellow dust, KMA data via The Korea Herald).

Cherry blossoms in April

KMA's 1991–2020 normal for Seoul is first bloom on 8 April and full bloom on 10 April. For Yeouido Yunjung-ro it is 6 April (KMA). Actual dates move by days or weeks: Seoul bloomed on 4 April in 2025 and on 29 March in 2026. KMA and KTO publish forecasts each spring, and none exists for 2027 yet. See the cherry blossom guide.

Holidays

KASI lists no public holiday in April 2027 (KASI). The solar term 청명CheongmyeongClear and bright falls on 5 April and 곡우GoguGrain rain on 20 April; neither is a holiday. The next public holidays are Labor Day (Saturday 1 May, with Monday 3 May as a substitute), Children's Day on 5 May and Buddha's Birthday on Thursday 13 May 2027 (KASI).

Late April brings later blossoms: Democracy Park in Busan (double cherry blossoms, mid to late April) and Gaesimsa Temple in Seosan, which peaks from late April to early May (VisitKorea). For other events, see the Korea Tourism Organization's festival listings.

Crowds and prices

The Korea Tourism Organization names July to August and December to January as peak seasons (VisitKorea). April is not on that list, but bloom weekends are crowded. On the main section of Yeouido's cherry blossom road, traffic is restricted during the festival. Reach it by subway, at Yeouinaru Station (Line 5) or National Assembly Station (Line 9) (VisitKorea). Visit on a weekday morning if you can.
